Gestalt Nature Therapy Training
Do you love the outdoors and know in your bones that nature heals? Are you interested in collaborating with the natural world in your work with clients?
Then perhaps you're ready to un-domesticate your therapy! Join the movement of thousands of therapists across the country wanting to offer more vital, experiential, relational and inclusive therapies for their clients. Nature-based therapy is one of the fastest growing approaches in the helping professions, thanks to the growing research and clinical examples validating the many benefits of quality time spent outdoors. Approach |
Not everyone has access to horses, but most practitioners have some level of access to an outdoor space such as a yard, garden, bike path, suburban/city park, or natural area. If you do, consider stepping outside of the status quo by stepping outside.
GEIR's approach to Nature Therapy is rooted in Gestalt (obviously), Ecopsychology, Neuroscience, Ecology, & nature connection pedagogy. We consider Gestalt Nature Therapy (GNT) to be therapy, not just a light therapeutic activity.
Gestalt Nature Therapy requires more than just moving your sessions outdoors. It is about actively participating with nature and your surroundings in the therapeutic work. Its about creatively creating experiments appropriate for your clients presenting issues that incorporate the environment. Its about recognizing that systemic problems require systemic solutions, and that personal problems are rarely personal. They are systemic. Gestalt and Nature are systemic approaches.
One does not need to be versed in Gestalt to participate in these offerings. Some basic Gestalt theory will be taught as well as the benefits of blending nature and Gestalt. Many of the experiments and principles can also be integrated into other therapeutic modalities.
