All Colorado trainings are held at Happy Dog Ranch LLC , Sedalia, CO.
Happy Dog is a horse and human (and goat and cow and alpaca and dog and cat...) sanctuary. We have worked in collaboration with them for almost 15 years. GEIR and HDR share the value of being deeply relational as well as a fluid leader with animals. Contact is our foundation and how we do everything - in animal care, horsemanship, equine therapy and nature therapy.
Happy Dog Ranch is in the front range foothills at around 6,ooo feet in elevation. Days can be hot, nights can be cool, and the weather can shift quickly. Jarr Creek runs through the land, giving life to cottonwoods, willows, gamble oaks, chokecherry shrubs and other plant life. Red-tailed hawks fly overhead while wrens, nuthatches, robins, yellow warblers, and finches sing and call. Deer and elk may graze in the pastures with horses, and bear scat is seen frequently.
Time in each module is spent both indoors and outdoors. We have a classroom for lectures, and multiple pastures outdoors for experientials and practice. There is also a large indoor arena for inclement weather. Lessons are not consistently with the horses since we also have a focus on teaching Gestalt therapy and attachment and human development within the program.
