Julia Clavette (left)
Owner of Star Peak Stables & Trainer
Julia Clavette is the owner and operator of Star Peak Stables which is a family operation located
in the foothills nestled between national forest and state park. The location is an incredibly
beautiful valley with several small ponds and large trees and lies at the base of Thorodin Mountain, below Star Peak.
Star Peak Stables offers indoor and outdoor facilities to protect riders from the sometimes
challenging weather at 9000' of elevation.
Julia and her daughter, Elizabeth, run the day to day operations where they offer horse boarding, training,
riding lessons, and host an equine assisted psychotherapy program.
Julia is a graduate H-A from the United States Pony Club. Her background is in Dressage and 3-day eventing.
She's been working as a professional in Colorado for 23 years, and loves continuing on in her own education.
Julia enjoys sharing her knowledge and love for horses with her clients. Her philosophy is to keep training
safe, fun, and positive. She fully believes that by focusing on the good, our challenges take care of themselves.
The horses are the best teachers and anyone lucky enough to be in their presence will be blessed by their
assistance in personal growth.
Elizabeth Clavette (right)
Trainer
Elizabeth Clavette is lucky enough to have spent her childhood on the back of a horse. Currently, she teaches
horse back riding lessons and trains horses at Star Peak Stables. Elizabeth also trains and competes in 3-day
eventing, rodeo, barrel racing, roping, team penning, and cowboy mounted shooting.
Elizabeth has been training horses since she was 9 years old. She believes that successful training is about
developing a relationship with the horse. Elizabeth feels that horses look to us for leadership. As a trainer,
she trys to be clear, kind, and consistent. When that is not enough she makes the correct choice, or behavior,
easy and the incorrect choice more difficult or more work for the horse. The release is the reward. Horses are Elizabeth's
passion. She loves to share her knowledge, and finds teaching to be very rewarding. Horses are amazing teachers.
Elizabeth tries to help interpret what they are telling us.
